Said no one ever.
Flicking through the NFL news in the offseason isn’t generally the most exciting league stream. You have your usual arrests, a few stories about Gronk twerking, and the ” ___ is going all the way this year!” I think that’s why I loved the overhyped Colts signing so much.
Behold the above photo.
The Wide Receiver that didn’t.
Not ringing in bells? There’s a reason for that.
Brown was drafted in the third round in 2011 by the Chargers.
He had a solid rookie year catching 19 passes for 300 yards and three touchdowns. Then he broke his ankle and missed 2012. Then 2013 he had 41 catches for 472 yards. 2014 saw him with a calf injury that got him waived from the Chargers. The trusty ol’ Raiders picked him up (of course they did) and he made a measly 12 catches for 118 yards.
Did the Colts find a diamond in the rough?
Not that they need him to shine too bright. With TY Hilton, Andre Johnson, Donte Moncrief, Duron Carter, Griff Whalen… he probably won’t make the roster.
Yet, the Colts organization’s marketing department is pretty amped up about a player that won’t see the field come the Fall. I guess when all is quiet on the discrimination front the need for a happy story is heightened.
