NFL Season Opener: What You Need To Know

I woke up this morning screaming ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!
I’ve been watching the clock all day.
I made reservations at my favourite sports bar.
I’m ready, it’s the NFL season opener.
I’m way too stoked on football to make this a long winded analysis on Green Bay and Seattle. Let’s keep it short and sweet and cover what you need to know for tonight’s game.
Tonight brings back vivid memories of the moment the replacement refs hit the final nail in the incompetent coffin. It was the night of the Fail Mary that saw Rogers drop an F bomb on TV and the Seahawks skip gaily to the locker room in victory. This is the first time that the Packers have stepped back into Centurylink to face the Seahawks. In September of 2012 the game did not go the Packers way from the start. Rogers was sacked 8 times in the first half. It was so loud that the Pack couldn’t hear a thing. The second half saw Rodgers marshal his team back but the ruling that the last second catch from Wilson to Tate was touchdown stopped that real fast. Rogers and Co, will remember this moment. It’s burned in many of the Pack’s memory. Two years may have passed but this could motivate the Pack for sweet, sweet revenge.
The Noise
When discussing a game in Seattle’s home noise will always be a factor. The crowd is the loudest in the business and has been known to cause an earthquake or two. Factor in that it’s the season opener and that the history between this match up AND that the Seahawks are the defending Super Bowl Champion and shit’s going to be turnt up. The Pack will have to hope they’re well oiled enough to forgo long communication. Their rookie center Corey Linsley is most likely going to be at odds in this no huddle offense.
The Up and Downs
The Packers are coming back from a less than stellar season last year. They were expected to excel but after losing Rogers to a broken collarbone they never recovered and only made the playoffs due to the NFCs own incompetence. Their defense also ranked a lowly 25th. In their off season the Pack have upgraded their defense by adding Juluis Pepper to complement Clay Matthews and Ha Ha Clinton Dixon. Offensively, they still have Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson and Eddie Lacy. Look for Rogers to make a “everyone remember me” theme to his night.
The Seahawks are coming off a Super Bowl win. They decimated the Broncos and are already being touted to return to the SB. They are returning with nearly all of their Legion of Boom and offense. They are missing Golden Tate, so Percy Harvin will have to continue to make a big impact. He’s rumored to be as healthy as he’s been in his NFL career, so watch for him to test the Pack’s defense.
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: Despite the revenge motivation I can’t overlook the noise and the Legion; I pick Seahawks.
